Clark Contracts has completed the £750k refurbishment of Cumnock Bus Station for East Ayrshire Council.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport funded the project, which was overseen by Ayrshire Roads Alliance in conjunction with the council and Wylie Shanks Architects.
The improvements were designed following a feasibility study and public consultation carried out in November 2018 and include a feature terminal building in place of the existing shelters which was amended to take into account public concerns about a lack of protection from the weather.
The concourse has been refurbished with the addition of enhanced landscaping and the Tanyard area is now more accessible.
In addition, the station has been enhanced with improvements to the real time technology and 24/7 monitored CCTV.
Gerry Cummins, Director at Clark Contracts, added: “It has been fantastic to deliver this project and add further experience to our transport portfolio having previously completed the reconfiguration of Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus Station. We were also pleased to further develop our relationship with East Ayrshire Council whilst delivering this unique project.”
