A second phase of work at the Pleasance Theatre, totalling £4m, has been completed by Clark Contracts.

 

Clark Contracts has delivered the refurbishment and extension of the Category B listed Theatre and Number 48 within the Pleasance complex for the University of Edinburgh.

 

Clark Contracts previously completed phase 1A and 1B of the works at 60 and 48A Pleasance, the Quaker Meeting house and Salisbury Building in 2016 and has delivered £8.5m of projects for the University of Edinburgh since 2014.

 

The complex plays host to a variety of student societies and activities and is the main hub of the Edinburgh International Festival. The buildings range in age from 100 to 220 years old and are all Category B Listed. Approximately 500,000 visitors walk through its doors each August during the Edinburgh Festival.

 

This project represents a significant investment in the enhancement of facilities for students at the University as well as the wider community.

 

Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with five operating divisions; Construction, Fit Out, Small Works, Maintenance and Manufactured Joinery. The company employs over 250 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland. The proportion of business derived from repeat customers each year has averaged 76% over the past ten years and 72% of customers rate the contractor as ‘Impressive’ or ‘First Class’.
