Three new nurseries for The City of Edinburgh Council have been constructed by Clark Contracts as part of the council’s investment in early years and providing quality affordable childcare.

Works to Longstone, Ferryhill and Davidson’s Mains’ Nursery Schools commenced in January 2017 and the projects were handed over for the new school term beginning in August.

The centres have been designed based on sector-leading research to support children’s learning and development and provide flexible indoor learning spaces with innovative technology along with gardens and play areas designed to provide views to nature and natural light to encourage outdoor play.

The construction, refurbishment and maintenance contractor is also currently on site completing the £1.4m construction of Granton Nursery School which is due to be handed over to The City of Edinburgh Council in October.

Michael Scanlan, Director of the Construction East Division, said: “It has been especially pleasing for Clark Contracts to be involved in the delivery of such innovative learning centres and we hope the nursery staff and children are enjoying their new facilities.”
