We completed the partial refurbishment of an existing Category A listed building which was carried out in two phases. These phases covered the West and Central core of the building.
Phase 1 works comprised of the demolition and downtaking’s, alterations to suit new room layouts, new woodwork, including partition doors, windows, skirting’s and linings. We also installed new mechanical, electrical and data services, new sanitary ware, including IPS units. In addition to this we also installed proprietary partitions, new suspended ceilings, new floor coverings, redecoration plus fixtures and fittings.
Phase 2 works consisted of the erection of a full height perimeter access scaffold to allow for the inspection and survey of the existing sandstone by our specialist sub-contractor and the architect.
Following the survey, limited sandstone repairs and remedial works were undertaken, including removal and replacement of some of the corbel features. The entire exterior of the building was then cleaned and repointed.
A full survey of the existing sash and case windows was also carried out by a specialist and all the windows were refurbished and repaired as required including new ironmongery, plus repointing and repainting internally and externally.
In addition, the external works included the replacement of the large roof light over the central staircase and minor roof and slate repairs carried out as directed by the Architect.
