Careers \ Training & Development

It is our belief that training and development ensures a more committed and motivated workforce than any other factor including the level of salary. We are actively looking to develop the leaders of tomorrow; those individuals who have the ability to go far beyond their current level. The wide range of training and development we carry out is outlined below:

Part Time Degree Courses
We offer sponsorship in Site Manager, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying Health and Safety, Buying and Estimating.

Entry Level is at HND or equivalent qualification.  A Development Plan is formulated to suit the individual experience and needs of the Trainee.

Learning outcomes are established and the Plan is monitored every 3 months with the Trainee’s Line Manager.

The course is fully sponsored giving time off to attend classes and payment of all fees associated with the course.

Trainees can also be accepted into the scheme at any time during their degree.

Vocational Training
We offer Degree students on the full time Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying course a placement to fulfil the requirement of their degree.

As in the part time students we formulate a Development Plan, which is monitored over the time the trainee spent with us.

Opportunities are available in some cases for the trainee to return at the end of their 3rd year (Vacation) to continue their training plan and develop their relationship with the company further.

Professional Training
This is encouraged at all levels of the company, whether you are a Site Manager or in administration, we look to train our people to meet the challenges of the future.

This results in Surveyors being given the necessary coaching to enable them to complete their APC training while Site Management undertake SVQ’s which will enable them to meet the CIOB criteria for membership.

Post Graduate Training
A development plan is formulated with Graduate to meet their CPD requirements and also to ensure that they are getting the right experience to ensure that they progress quickly into their new role.

Joinery Apprenticeship
We offer a 4 year modern apprenticeship sponsored by the CITB.

Apprenticeships commence in late August early September.  The first 3 years are spent in 2-4 week blocks between work and College with the 4th year spent on site with a skills test at the end of the year.

When the Apprentice passes the skills test they then become a joiner.

Applicants must pass the CITB test which is applied for online on the CITB Website (bconstructive.com).  Rates of pay follow an agreed structure.

The apprentice is employed by us and has the opportunity later on in his career to join our Trainee Development Programme.

For further details relating to any of the opportunities, please give David Cooper our Construction Director a call on 0141 847 8737 or e-mail him at – david.cooper@clarkcontracts.com.
