Glasgow's Tay House revamp set for final phase

15th May 2014

One of Glasgow's most iconic office buildings, Tay House, is to be given a facelift in its final phase of a multi-million programme of refurbishment and improvement works.

Clark Contracts has been awarded an £800,000 contract to transform the front entrance of the landmark building in its prime position overlooking the M8 at Charing Cross.

The work will see the expansion and upgrading of the existing entrance and foyer to include a new glazed frontage at pavement level providing disabled access. Work is expected to be complete by August 2014.

Andrew MacGilp, director of London and Scottish Investments, on behalf of the building’s owners, said: “Since acquiring Tay House in January 2004, significant capital has been invested in upgrading the building to meet the ever increasing criteria of Grade A office tenants. This latest improvement is the final phase of work to be undertaken in a three year programme and we look forward to seeing the finished result, giving the building the entrance it always deserved.

“Tay House is one of Glasgow City Centre’s most architecturally notable buildings to offer this quality of Grade A accommodation. It has the rare advantage of having Glasgow’s best views and largest column free floor plate.”

Gordon Cunningham, managing director of Clark Contracts, added: “It is especially pleasing for us to be delivering this important addition to one of Glasgow’s most significant landmark buildings.”
