The first occupier at Clark Contracts’ new McFarlane Street development in Paisley is Enterprise Rent-A-Car, which is opening a new branch to serve customers across Renfrewshire.
As part of the deal, Enterprise has signed a 20 year lease. Clark Contracts will design, build and fit out the new vehicle hire centre on a 0.10 hectares site adjacent to its own head office. The development includes offices, car park, car valet area and a dedicated entrance.
A major factor in the deal was fast turnaround, with Clark Contracts on schedule to design, build, fit out and handover the finished project in August, only four months after Enterprise agreed terms.
A similar fast turnaround is now on offer for the next phase of the McFarlane Street development; the design and build of industrial/office units with dedicated parking, ranging from 1,400 sq ft up to 7,000 sq ft. The site offers exceptional transport links, with the M8 close by and Glasgow International Airport less than 1 mile away.

Clark Contracts was advised by GVA who also acted as architect for the project. Tom Davidson, Director of Rating, GVA, said, “The withdrawal of full rates relief for unoccupied industrial accommodation has effectively stopped speculative development. Limited new development poses a challenge for potential occupiers who want the latest, most up to date workspace. In this instance Clark Contracts has overcome the challenge by offering a design, build and fit out, prepared to the occupier’s specifications, in only four months”.
